If all goes well, I'll be going away over the weekend.

I've left cats over a weekend with no problems, but Callie has given me some proglems in the past, so I'm leery of doing so, but it's short notice to find a cat sitter, and it would probably only be for one day anyway. I have a double cat bowl that we used for the two torties we adopted, and I can get puppy pads to put around the litter box, but I don't know if they would help anyway since I can't change them until I get back. This is a great opportunity for me, I'll get to meet some friends from my early days on Yahoogroups, and it would be good to have a weekend away. I'll probably just do it and pray that it works out. I have never had problems with other cats, however they weren't rescues, but she was pretty good when I was away at camp. She peed outside the box, but it was in a contained area, and maybe she needed a little more litter. Hmmm, I think it could work, with a little prayer and advice, and some planning.

All my cats have been strays/ferals. When you think about it, they managed to survive out in the world and alone. I figured if I left enough dry food (although my cats have always eaten 90% canned) they'd survive two days without coddling.

For a cat who pees outside the box and doesn't have any medical problems, I would think she's stressed and would try to add a box so she feels more comfortable using it.

but there wasn't as much litter in the box as she likes. My cat sitter said the clumps were so small she didn't think she needed any more, and most cats would have been OK with what was there. Callie usually is as long as I'm home, but I'm going to add more litter to teh box and see how that goes. I simply can't think of a place to put the huge double box left from when I had Amber and Tango.

I think it's time she learned to trust that I'll be back for her. If it doesn't work, I'll know for next time.

I bought a couple of BIG plastic bowls and put litter in them, left the bowls on either large plastic sheets or large old towels. Put lots of different bowls out with food in, some higher - some lower. Or you could buy one of those feeding boxes with a timer on it

seen those huge containers you fill from teh topand it falls into a bowl at the bottom, but you can't set a timer on those. What are they like? I don't have space for another litter box. It would help if they were selling boot trays for winter boots, I want to try using one of those under the litter box. Some great ideas here.

I got one of the timer feeders when I was in the UK it has two trays and you put the food in, set the timer and when it is time the lid opens. Each lid is timed separately. I got it from one of the big pet chains over there
