My little Peatrie. I cant sleep.., waiting for the vet to open. Around 9:00 tonight I heard a big boom! I knew someone fell from our 2nd floor balcony. The kittens always go up on this ledge.. there’s no way I can stop them. The also jump on the railing and walk. Which scares the crap out of me. Peatrie does this the most. Evidently she fell down on the ceramic below. I ran out to hear her crying/moaning.

I was so nervous. I put her in our walk in closet so she rests. She won’t put the one back leg down. Or move it. She cries if it moves. I am taking her as soon as vet opens tomorrow. She seems to be resting ok now, but I’m not going in by her cause she tries to walk too much on the three legs and it hurts her. She does lay and purr for me, tries to come and lay by me, and I don’t want her to hurt herself so I’m trying to stay out of there. But I check on her every now and then. I hope it’s not broken. She’s so full of life and energy. She’s one of the three kittens we kept.

I certainly didn’t expect any issues with them for many years. Now this. I hope she’ll be ok without surgery. Please say some prayers for her.

Not sure how I can stop them from climbing and jumping up on the ledge or bannisters. Unless I put them back downstairs again, but they like it up in the house here with us now. They settled in very nicely. But now this.

We had other cats walk the bannisters many years ago, but no one ever got hurt.

Say some prayers for my sweet Peatrie.

I’m going to be up all night now, just waiting for 8:00 am.

Her leg and growth plate is broken. Supposedly without surgery she won’t have use of that leg.

She’s actually very comfortable, vet gave her a shot of pain killer and anti inflammatory of some sort. Pain killer will last 3 days.

Surgery can’t be done at my vet. Must go to specialized orthopedic doctor. An hour away. I called to see if they do surgery on weekend and how to appproach. They don’t. So I am not bringing her to sit there til Monday.

They said to come very early Monday and after they examine her, they may get her in for surgery that day. Said to be there at 6 am, means I must leave here at 5.

Estimated cost of surgery is $3500-5500. Dave is Not happy about the cost, but he does say we Have to do it if that’s all that will help her.

She’s just a baby. She has to have a life. Still the surgery scares the crap out of me. Daves upset about the cost, I’m upset about the surgery. I want to ask some questions and the what if’s of letting it heal on own or not. I just don’t know. Poor little thing. There are negatives to the surgery too from what I’m reading. So what to do?

Say some prayers we figure this out and it works out best for her.

Part of your family!! First thank you for taking her home to rest, which I hope she is doing!!! I know you are not. I like your attitude that the little one needs a life.....many do not think like us cat lovers. Gentle hugs.from Asheville my kitties and I! That cost is huge!! I could not even consider such but our situations are different!!! Despite that, no matter that is a lot, I hope it will be on the lower end. Pain away thoughts!!!!

Oh my goodness - that is awful news. Which growth plate is it? Poor little mite. I can understand Dave's concern at the cost too. Please, once you know, let us know what is happening meanwhile lots of prayers coming your way.

I am so sorry to hear this. I am praying all will be well, and she has just bruised herself. I know what a worry it can be though. I can't really think of any way you can stop kittens climbing and doing the dangerous things that kittens do - they are so active and mischievous. All I can do is send prayers that she has not hurt herself too much
