I worry about catching Covid and giving it to my cats, but I guess this is out there, too.

Fortunately, the article says it is probably rare. I also like that the article makes a point to say "People 'should not abandon their cats, but take more care of them'".

I wish this disease would go away!

the fact that the cat sneezed in the vet's face just got me. There are some missing details here in terms of the conclusion. Where and how (and why) was the cat transferred to be tested?

And does this mean that the cat caught the virus from its humans?

I suspect the cat was showing symptoms leading to the further investigation. They genetically sequenced the virus and found it was the same in the cat, the two owners and the vet who caught it.

And yes, I agree that a vet should remember that eyes have vulnerable mucous membranes, too - not just noses and mouths!

The CDC article says they "were transferred to Prince of Songkla University hospital because of the unavailability of hospital beds in Bangkok." This was during the emergence of the very contagious Delta variant, so maybe beds were very hard to come by at that time?
