Nonesuch is a great album but it would have been even better if they just edited it a bit more. it should have been 13 tracks long at most. And as usual there are tons of awesome outtakes that could have improved the album if they used them instead of a few of the lesser tunes. Oranges and Lemons on the other hand is so jam-packed with sound that it can be too much to take in at once, but some of their best songs ever are in there and even some of the lesser ones jump out at me in ways I wasn't expecting them to whenever I revisit it.
Several of XTC's albums have been remixed by Steven Wilson recently, some for the worse (Nonesuch) and some for the better (Drums and Wires). They're doing an O&L remix next which is due out sometime this year. I'm definitely curious as to how they handle the music on that one. I usually hate it when remixers like Steven Wilson get all revision-y with their mixes, but O&L is such a curious album that I'm interested in what this remix will end up sounding like.
