It's quite good. I don't have any problems with it. It's nowhere close to being one of my favorite XTC albums, but as I said about Nonsuch, that's more a testament to the strength of the band then the weakness of the album. I think it just tends to get overshadowed by its older brother, which is rather different from anything XTC had done before whereas Wasp Star is fairly typical XTC pop.

I really have no idea where it would go on my rankings of XTC albums, if I were to list them all in a row. Actually, I don't think I could make such a list, since my feelings on Drums and Wires seem to change every time I listen to it, and so that would throw off the list entirely. That album is a puzzle to me, I must admit.

What about their first two albums? People don't talk about them much, generally for good reason, but there are a few good songs here and there. If White Music had been trimmed down a bit, and maybe Go 2 was just eliminated with its best songs replacing some of the weaker ones on the debut, they could've had a very good album there.

Fun trivia fact that you might all know already, but that I just found out recently - White Music came out before The Cars' debut. Considering how often I've thought of those two albums as "wanting to be The Cars," I found that interesting. Maybe they were taking their cue from The Modern Lovers or The Talking Heads? I honestly don't know.
