Both albums have a lot of genre and emotion-hopping as I fell hard for Ween several years ago thanks to the WRC, but this second album has longer songs on average (14 songs in 41:30 vs. 20 songs/21 tracks in 46:30 for the first one) which reflects more developed songs with more vocal sections per song. There are several artist pastiches and genre parodies on both, but there's a mix of serious and humorous songs, with the line sometimes blurred. Songs are timestamped in the description and lyrics are in the comments.
@John obviously no pressure to listen since I know you have so much going on—but if you hear just one track on each, on the first album listen to the Beach Boys pastiche “Our Secret Surf Spot,” replete with an uncharitable Mike Love impression and a...different take on their classic 60s lyrics (and also coming immediately after one of the album's most serious songs). On the second album, there's not as clear of a good "intro" pick like I think "Surf Spot" is in getting a sense of the sorts of songs I do. However, I personally like how “The Paul McCartney Song” turned out; the title is actually a lyric mentioned in the song, though motifs *borrowed* from at least a half dozen different Paul songs are present. Regardless, hope you're doing well at this time and I am super grateful for your reviews and your contributions to Discord & Rhyme. These have led me to discover new music I wouldn't have been exposed to and have helped underscore certain elements of songs that have helped me appreciate them more than I would have otherwise. And in addition to listening to music being something healing, it's largely what I listen to that provides inspiration for the music I record, which in itself is an act of healing (no matter how amateurish the playing and production may sound at times, I am not a professional), so thank you.
