I'm guessiiiing "Don't" was written before September 2022... I get not wanting to rewrite the lyrics to rhyme something with "King" instead.
"The Door" isn't what I was expecting... Reading the lyrics I thought it would be a punk song (even with no guitar). Instead it reminds me of Queen's "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon", of all things.
The vocal harmonies on "Blue Ink" really made me smile. I'm reminded a bit of something off Paul Simon's Graceland... can't place which track, though.
Yeah, "Feel the Pain" is the kind of piano-punk song I thought "The Door" would be, thus proving it IS possible! Really cool vocals on that one.
"Synth Pop Hero" could almost pass for Buggles (it's got hints of "Clean, Clean" but it's very much an entity unto itself). That's more than fine by me, as I think The Age of Plastic is a masterpiece.
"Try, Try Again" is an amusingly self-deprecating way to kick off a second album! You sound more self-assured in your singing now.
"Three-Chord Punk" arguably has 4 chords, if you count I and Ib (i.e. B and B/D#) separately! Whether or not that's intentional, it's a fun one.
I like the lyrics to "Sticks and Stones" a lot. Not only is it a great point, but it's not something I see mentioned often enough. The unexpected key change for the bridge is certainly attention-grabbing.
Your Bob Dylan impression on "Out of My League" was so accurate that I kept expecting it to turn into "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again".
"Be There" might be my favourite... I can easily imagine Andy Partridge (circa Skylarking) singing it, especially the bit where the melody ambitiously jumps around a lot!
