What are you going to do, Christmas-wise, that you think that you may have to keep an eye on your dogs/cats?
For example, a Christmas tree, other decorations, baking cookies, etc.?
Can your pets reach your counter, shelves, and so forth?
And, if you are going to do something to keep them away from something like the tree, or ornaments, what is your plan?
Last year, Krypto was better than I thought that he'd be, but I didn't put any ornaments on the lowest part of the tree.
He enjoyed chewing on some fir needles, though.
I am thinking that one more year of keeping the ornaments up a little higher might be a good idea, since I don't want to find out the hard way that he might chew on them. That would be bad for him, and bad for the ornaments!
I don't keep decorations down low, either. He has quite a reach, with or without standing up. Just on all fours.
As for cooking, he's used to it, and generally doesn't bother me when I cook/bake. I've even had good luck with leaving food for short periods of time in his reach, but I don't push that too far, so that will, hopefully, not be a problem.
This would be a good time to mention that Dh brought up getting him a brother or sister...on his own!
He's looking at a female GSD that's 2, and about 1/2 his size.
Originally, we were thinking about a tough little terrier that isn't too large, but can handle playing with a 90 lb. over-sized pup.
Essentially, any prayers that a dog that will suit all of us...Dh and I, Krypto, and absolutely the cats, would be appreciated. Oh yes, and small children, of course, because of Thyri.
I would rather not get another dog if he/she doesn't suit us well.
Thank you.
