The 10' space out the front door is working for now. She goes out willingly, and now, if asked, she will follow you in. It's not sturdy enough to put her in it alone, but not bad for a quick, after-dark fix.
Dh took her out a while ago, and was gone for a really long time. Finally, when he came in, I asked what the problem had been. He was pulling more ticks off of her. More than 25 again. I know that the area that she's from has a lot of ticks, and that there's been a surge, but...yuck! And this was with using a special comb to find them originally. These, unlike the last ones, though, were bitten in. I wish that hadn't happened. And, Dh *really* wishes that it hadn't, because she climbed in his recliner while he was doing other things.
She finally got off of the floor, and got onto Krypto's place, which finally caused a reaction out of him. He was *really* unhappy. Then, when he got close, she showed him her teeth. Uh oh.
But, all is well...for now. No fights or bites. I made her let him up next to her, albeit on the very edge. Finally, he got down, but seemed a little happier.
She seems so...out of it. I swear that, if I didn't know better, I'd say that someone drugged her, but I don't think that's true. I just have a suspicious mind, I guess.
The father was not at home. Something with the VA. Hira got out, and a neighbor called the woman who finally got her. She turned around, and went back to pick her up. Thus, the ticks, too.
I'm afraid that she's having a negative reaction to being taken from home, and her dad. We would be either her 3rd, or 4th, home. Her puppyhood, the vineyard, the relative of ddil's, and now us. She was in the man's home for 3 years, and she's 4 or 5. This can cause a lot of anxiety in a dog, and is sometimes the root of separation anxiety. I'm trying not to project, but she's not acting normally. I feel sorry for her, and if it keeps up I will give her the herbal calming tabs that I have on-hand. They aren't my favorites, but shouldn't hurt her. They might take the edge off of her stress, even though, at a quick glance, she doesn't look stressed, she is, and allow her to settle in a little better.
Poor Krypto has stopped pestering her, and just seems concerned. I'm sure that he thought that she was going to play with him, and maybe someday she will. But that day won't be today.
It's not abnormal, but she's not eaten, drunk any water, etc. Maybe when Krypto is fed in the morning she will change her mind.
Well, I think that I should get some sleep now. A lot has happened here in the past 24 hrs.
