"OOOOOOoooooohhhh!" War Scribe gasped as she took in the entire scene, "This looks like it's going to be fun! More mayhem! More magic! And dare I say it--MORE DEATH!"
The combined gunship fire and the elemental's special ability created a gravity well, to put bluntly a miniature black hole. The adjacent buildings within the blast zone were being ripped apart and pulled into the gravity well. Yet at the same time the gravity well had an adverse affect on the air ships that gave it life and pushed them away like two positives repelling each other.
Alyson signaled to the Bruno, who already had his first mate turning the ship one hundred eighty degrees. "A Singularity Pulse creates a gravity well or miniature black hole within a city of large scale pulling all those of negative affect within it. However, those who have a positive effect get this world's version of lightspeed, known as a Slipstream. I would suggest everyone hold onto something."
"Light what? A slip what?" Neven asked to no one in particular.
"Rough translation: We're going to go very, very fast!" Irzen commented as he wrapped his arms around the ships railing, "Now hold onto something! Quick!"
Serna, Neven and Willow followed suit. War Scribe, however, did not but merely recorded all of the events as they transpired around her.
Roberts tell your allies of what is about to happen." The Elementalist turned to the pirate.
The battle mage was already relaying the message to the other vessels and they began wheeling about to ride the wave generated by the singularity. Roberts and his men found anything that was secure to the ship to hang on to for what was about to happen. "I saw this in a movie once. EVERYONE HANG ON!!!"
"This is going to be EPIC!" The Chronicler grinned from ear to ear, "A narrow escape to end all narrow escapes! And if I'm lucky maybe someone will die in the process. YAY!"
"Deaths? Really?!" The Elementalist shook her head at the chronicler, "No deaths here but maybe if you look over the side, there seems to be plenty from the denizens of the city, Scribe."
"REALLY?! People dying and I'm not watching it!" War Scribe raced over to the ship's railing, "WHERE?! WHERE?!"
Sure enough, the chronicler could hear the wailing death cries of Venger's minions being sucked into the gravity well. The force of Quake's special ability and the combined gunship focused attacks was reaching critical mass. It also was pulling Venger into it now and despite his best efforts to resist it wasn't happening.
"RRRRAAAUUUUGGHHHH!!!" The Venger/Nightmare roared in pure exasperation as it was sucked into the gravity well.
"YYYAAAAYYYY!!!" War Scribe screeched with glee, "Death on such a scale is simply ORGASMIC!!! WWWWHHHHHEEEE!!!" The Chronicler began to joyously twirl around the deck of the ship like a top as she revelled in the moment.
"Roberts. I have our ticket out of the city!" Bruno flashed softball sized token to the pirate, "Have your friends follow close behind once the shield is down, or they'll get stuck here!"
It happened, the gravity well reached critical mass and in one massive energy blast Bruno's air ship hit Mach 5 in point five seconds from the Slipstream affect. At reaching the magical energy shield, he raised the token and a hole opened up within the shield allowing his airship to pass through to the other side. Closely followed by Roberts allies.
Unfortunately, War Scribe wasn't tied down or holding onto something when Bruno's air ship hit Mach 5. As a result of her delirious enjoyment at the death which surrounded her, the Chronicler went flying off the deck of the air ship and got pulled into the gravity well.
"YYYYYYAAAAHHHHHHOOOOOOEEEYYYYYY!!!" War Scribe screamed at the top of her lungs before she disappeared into the singularity, "BBBBEESSTTTT DEAAATHHHH EEEEVVEERRRR!"
"Now that's what I call EPIC!" Quake cheered.
"Hear! Hear!" Irzen smiled at Quake.
Roberts reached in his jacket for his flask. A small nip of rum in moments like this made the living excellent. "I really need to upgrade the Falcon when I get back to Dunmeade. Great work, people. Nice team effort there."
"Did we do it? Did we make it?" Neven asked no on in particular.
"We sure did, Neven," Irzen smiled at The Thief, "We're safe for now!"
"Good-bye Black City! Good-bye Mean Nasty Lizardmen! Good-bye Venger! Good-bye Black Witch!" Serna cheered with a huge smile on her face, "AND GOOD RIDDANCE TO YOU ALL!"
There was a glint and flash of solid black eyes that gave or rather brought out the darkness within her. The Black Witch was not gone but subdued. Unlike War Scribe and her counterpart, Zakiyah, the elementalist and the Black Witch were one and the same. ~The over confident, arrogant brat will learn the harshest lesson of all.~
"But what about War Scribe?" Willow asked, "She went over the side and was sucked into that black hole. Do you think she can return from that?"
Quake crossed her fingers, "Don't jinx us, Willow. Besides, I'm gonna enjoy not having to listen to the "death" obsessed drowling for once.
"Like a bad penny that keeps turning up, my friend!" Irzen patted Willow on his back, "She'll be back! Just enjoy the peace and quiet until she does return."
"Land HO!!" The first mate yelled from the bridge of the air ship pointing at the grand harbor of ships docked in the port. "That be, Asylum! Best place to hide or find what you're looking for!"
"Roberts, your ship is here too. Had some people who owed me favors for the last few jobs I did before going off the radar." Bruno walked down the steps to the deck and handed the pirate a bottle of Rum
Roberts took the offered bottle and took a long swig from it. "Bruno, it would seem I owe you you, yet again. Perhaps some day, I may get a chance to repay you. I will be glad to get back to my ship. The Duchess probably misses me."
