Hi Andrew, I fitted a new engine to a p38 1998 4.6 about 18 months ago. The engine came from land Rover, retail was about 3.5k plus vat, but with a good discount. Looked at other suppliers, RPI were about the same price, their engine came fully built, the Land Rover one was without manifolds etc, but RPI wouldnt give me any discount. Didnt try vege as their warranty dept has p####d me off before.
Customer was happy to pay the money(he is not short of a few quid) the total bill came to 6.5k inc vat which was more than the car was worth, but included a new water pump, o2 sensor, exhaust and a service.
