Hi mate,

It does but only for CAN vehicles not K-Line. I was going to buy the CarDaq-M which is allegedly upgradeable to DoIP, I did have a bit of a dialogue with a guy from Drewtech in the States but seems he couldn't be bothered to answer my third question so basically buying manufacturers VCis then defo no issues!

Why not buy direct from VAG?

There are some authentic looking clones out there which are utter junk.

Are you aware a new WiFi head has just been released, but is not yet up & running for independents?

May be worth holding out for a couple of months before you purchase a potentially soon to be unsupported VCI.

Although as it stands even the new DOiP models still comm with a 5054A. So may be some time before it is consigned to the bin?

Hi Jon,

Yes missed Steve's recently no doubt will end up buying new, they are available again apparently, think the DoIP one is good bit over a grand? the 5054A is £780? that will be fine for me I think.

I was going to buy the CarDaq-M which is allegedly upgradeable to DoIP

I had the same idea and, having spoken to Drewtech in the US, I'm now considering the Cardaq Plus 2 which they say supports DOIP (diagnostics over internet protocol), which covers remote diagnostics, and is a phase-in on 2017 models. A learned friend has pointed out that this doesn't mean that it will get VM approval, without which it would be useless for DOIP which is a fair and relevant point. It still has it's existing VM approved uses for pre DOIP vehicles.

Any thoughts on that device?

Ian, should be available again now, you know the WiFi isn't DoIP?

Gerard, all seem to have problems I use a Drewtech Mongoose cable for GM & Saab seems to work ok but some of the others seem to be iffy I have enough problems day to day with diag to be wondering when i get no comms or hanging issues etc if it's the VCi so I am just getting the genuine OE interfaces for manufacturers we do most then one less thing to worry about.

Ive heard support is good from Drewtech but was a bit hacked off when the guy couldn't be arsed to answer my third question.

Found it in old emails,

'One more question what is the difference between the Plus2 & M modules you sell?'

Someone else told me they had asked the same and (I think) the Plus2 is J2534 approved where the M isn't but still doesn't help with what it will & more importantly won't do, another case of find out after purchase I guess

The CarDAQ-M is a modular device. Meaning that as OEM's upgrade their technology we will have new modules available that will simply plug into your CarDAQ-M to make it compatible with new vehicles. However the CarDAQ+2 would have to be sent back to us to have any upgrades preformed. Both tools are just as capable at this time for J2534 programming, the +2 has a few features the M does not such as data aquisition, some heavy duty trucks, and some non automotive applications. We work with most OEM's to make sure that our products are as up to date as possible. If a new protocal such as DoIP were implemented we would do our best to make new modules available as soon as the vehicles where released to the public.
