1 Season: $1,005,000
2 Seasons: $1,075,000
3 Seasons: $1,145,000
4-6 Seasons: $1,215,000
7+ Seasons: $1,300,000
Key Details
ractice Squad: Players with two or fewer years of experience earn a minimum of $13,000 per week ($234,000 per 18-week season), while those with more than two years earn a minimum of $17,500 weekly ($315,000 per 18-week season).
Future Increases: The minimum salary increases by $45,000 each year for all tiers through the 2030 season.
Veteran Salary Benefit: Teams can use a "Qualifying Contract" for veterans with 4+ years of experience to reduce their cap hit to that of a player with two years of service, plus $187,500 in additional compensation.
As you can see. The slotted value, is different from league minimum.
Every year it seems. Teams dismiss rookie pool #'s if asked by the media. And, when all is said & done. Come in somewhere around 40-60 in actual cap # as compared to the " rookie pool".
It's confusing. Spotrac and over the cap are accurate in what they report. Understanding what it is they are reporting always leaves me wondering on the reality accuracy. Vs the denotative accuracy.
Kinda like the " breaking news" that QB
Joe Blow signed a 5 year $250 mil contract.
The details reveal? And sometimes those details get vague. And many times- ,that 5 for 250 report winds up being 3 for $100m. And then a bump to say 45m Year 4 & 45 in year 5. Wait? That's only $190m...
Oh yeah, 2 void years at 30m each make the bonus, which is usually the guaranteed cash, able to be stretched across 7 seasons. So the cap # never matches the paid $...
The rookie pool isn't very different. Only. It's not defined by contract language. It's set by the cba negotiated draft slot. And that varies by position as well as pick #. I believe, the 1st round contracts & the guarantees it come with. Is a hard #. Even if you cut the guy. You pay him.
All the other rounds. It's a guideline.
And ya gotta make the roster to get the dough.
