On JJ. There are some things to like about mcCarthy. The problems , however. Far outweigh the good. He doesnt possess nfl dna, how many injuries already? He doesnt anticipate/ tead defense well. He doesnt have a littany of tricks in his arm. 1 trick stubborn horse. Fastball every time. The only reason to try and develop such a player is bc he was drafted high. There are better prospects worthy of the effort, Time and cap dollars. If he had come to the vikings as a undrafted rookie? Theyd have cut bait long ago.

And that is the lense in which any personnel manager has to look through on all the players. If that is, winning is the priority.

But they cant cut him either. If they cut him now. They accelerate the cap and would be over the cap by a half mill.

If they can find a trade partner? The team gains 12 mill in cap relied over 2026 & 2027.
Its a no brainer to me. If they can find a trade partner. Trade him. Move on, and dont get fooled again. Learn the lesson!

You cant draft a position out of desperation... And you cant draft a player in the top 15 that "projects" to be something he currently isnt.
Top 15 picks have to be teady to go now. They have to have dominated in college.

Unfortunately, the vikings were desparate for a qb hr in that historic 2024 draft. McCarthy never threw the ball in college. Wtf did they think? Hed suddenly learn how to be a qb? Hell, the dude still hasnt learned how to be a thrower!

I dont hate mccarthy... But he sure does suck playing the most important position on an nfl team... And His champ run at michigan, if one studies the film. Proved he wasnt an nfl ready qb. And a tiny statured project on top of the lacking skill.

Not that Kyler is the answer either. 5'9" qb's are not the answer. Ive heard various reports, that he may infact be 5'6".

They had darnold in the building. The vikings made their choice. Now they have to just " get by" until another darnold falls in their lap, or they are finally slotted high enough on draft day to get one if those generational star qb's on draft day.

Kyler will be fun to watch. Still. The nfl doesnt treat his body type well. Id rather go into the season with wentz & brosmer holding clipboards than JJ.
