Don't forget that we were promised cheap power from renewables by our last government. They gave subsidies to build wind farms and solar which produce cheap power. The only thing is the prices charged for said cheap power are fixed to gas prices. So, the difference is presumably pocketed by the power companies.

Think about that on the next windy day when over 50% of power is provided by renewables but you pay the exorbitant gas price for it - and celebrate.
