My employer kept asking me why i took so long to drive between sites in a 3 ton pick up truck and got shitty. He said his BMW car can do the journey much quicker so i asked to borrow it so i could comply with his orders. Then, i asked him if he wanted me to exceed the speed limit then the shit shut up.
Some companies get very odd and this one wanted to know why i did 4 more miles than Google said it was.
I was told to use this Google route he provided taking 20 minutes longer as it was a 1 track farm road with a lot of tractors running on it. I asked if it was alright to have all the tree branch scrapes on the new truck and he went quiet but insisted i continue so getting there took longer and damaged the truck.
I did tell him that metalled roads are much better for the truck than the mud tracks the tractors use and asked if he drove that way in his BMW. It turned out he would only use the main road like i previously did.
At one point, they paid mileage if i took my car and the journey took 11.6 miles in every car i used. He set it as 10 miles so i lost 1.50 each day so i asked who would come and get me after i had travelled the 10 miles ? This also altered the distance to the next building by 1.6 miles so i explained neither building had moved and i was back to claiming the actual mileage.
Further asking, i found that they said these mileages were as the Crow flies. I just could not resist asking if i could use the crow next time.
I could be an awkward sod when messed about but did work there 27 years. Too many bosses all making different rules
