Rose tinted wosname said. Areas like the where the Ace is located being on or extremely close to a major trunk road were never pleasant areas or environments. BUT as young TU boys we did not look beyond the road surface, road junctions and/or the final destination, like thevAce. Similarly on the return journey in the dark we would see even less of the surroundings. The general area where such venues existed tended to be shite areas in reality.

Now we are older and wiser we can, and do, notice our surroundings but in the main we would not want to live in the close neighbourhood to such an establishment.
