Back in the late 60's where I lived it was prone to snow.

I can remember on at least 2 occassions we had 6 foot drifts, and we and our neighbours had to literally dig ourselves out of the house, and then down to the road (about 1/4 of a mile) to the nearest road so that we could (shock horror) drive our cars.

There was no big deal made of it by the weather forecasters, or us folk, we just did what we needed to do to be able to get to our cars so we could drive to the village / town to get stuff from the shops or even go to work, most things carried on more or less as normal.
