A lot of effort for not a lot of return.
Just checked and Yorkshire Water volumetric charge is currently £0.764 per cubic metre. That is £0.000764 per litre.
No excuse to waste it, but the "product" isn't actually that expensive. It is the standing charges that make up the bulk of the bill and a jam jar in the cistern won't affect those.
