Don't go there Jerry I'm more worried about what is going on the various cities around UK we could see it comming for ages we are like a third world country with riots going on we don't use rubber bullets or water cannon to bl--dy soft

Think people are just fed up with it all, but it wont change anything.

Andy parts of London are already like a 3rd world country London. I used to go to the East End of London for the best pubs and entertainment but now wouldn't go near the place for fear of my life. Look on you tube at the latest Park Lane tent city. Seems the useless mayor of London want's it all to happen.

The reason the London Mayor wants the illegals is they have no vehicles to make soot with. Solved the pollution problems now needs to cover the airspace to keep the new clean air in.
By the way, i deo have a good weapon handy indoors should someone get in. Not likely here but a nice Royal Marine bush cutting blade will put them off.2 foot long and wooden handle from WW11

Exactly. Precisely my worriess over the past couple of years, TUD.
People are more than happy to take the benefits of being in this country but not accept our culture and responsibilities.
I've read that in certain areas of London 40% of the population (e.g. Hackney) are 1st or 2nd generation immigrants, many of whom don't speak English at all at home and need interpreters in their contacts with schools, hospitals, GP's, local authorities etc. I really think they should at the very least have to pass a basic level of English to have residential status as it is for example in France, otherwise they'll never absorb what' expected and how we conduct our lives.

If too many of you honestly believe that these immigrant hordes are the least bit interested in "absorbing what is expected of them" and in "how we live our lives", it may already be hopeless.

Indeed Lannis, but many feel frustrated and impotent to effect change in the face of Human Rights legislation, Duty of Care responsibilities etc. through traditional democratic processes which is probably what encourages rioting although it seems that some are violent Far Right racist thugs, organised through social media and coming from outside the places of the demonstrations.

Enoch had my vote at the time. No Spridler, Starmer said it a couple of days ago when it kicked off. He is about as in touch with the real world as Liz Truss. Politics by meaningless platitudes. Both about as much use as wide eyed rabbits in a cars headlights.

It feels to me that if you express a view opposite to what the Government wants you to think, then you are considered far right.

Sadly it has got to the point where you cannot voice any opinion these date without being accused of being far right, or racist

I have little interest in any politics which seems to comprise too many academic and unworldly people eager to attract votes with populist promises and targets (which are rarely achieved) just to keep keep their egocentric noses in the Westminster trough.
My perception of 'some' being racist people or thugs was based on the comments of the police and emergency workers who were at the coal face of the riots, having to face the bricks, fires and insults.
My frustration is not with the immigrants but with the backlog of asylum claims of c130,000 which means that the U.K. tax payer has to fund the billions that it costs to accommodate those on the list for a year or more.

It's a complex issue and one which we have been failed on for years by successive Government's.

I think some of what we are seeing is peoples frustration boiling over.

On the local news yesterday they were talking to a white "native" British woman with 4 kids who is looking for housing, she was hacked off that a so called Asylum seeker can come into her area and get housed, yet she has been waiting for years.

Hardly surprising people are getting angry.

Message drift has occurred very swiftly here. The original posting made no mention of immigration, asylum seekers or riots. it dealt with a view that the "new" government appears very eager to take a small benefit away from a very identifiable socio-economic group...pensioners. Bear in mind that those that worked, the majority, paid for the benefits of state pensions for all of their working life.

I frankly, I am guessing like many on here, am not bothered financially about a £100 a year payment but I am concerned about the principle of selecting elderly people. Perhaps when we see their increases in taxes, which is inevitable from this type of party, we might feel better about the loss of the heating allowance BUT I bet that pensioners will not be able to avoid the tax increases that will be imposed.

So back to the original question..."So who voted these crooks in? Well I did not. Is anybody prepared to admit that they they voted for the Starmer crowd or that Farage idiots party? We shall see.

That's me done on matters of politics. Off to ride a bike in a few minutes.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

You must admit that this forum, being fairly small, sociable (most of the members know each other personally), and composed of people with a common interest, is almost uniquely able to discuss such topics without exploding into a storm of insults, personal attacks, and hurt feelings like 99% of the rest of the world.

Long may it continue. And long may it be mostly about bikes, and maybe about some of the ravages of Father Time as related to us and our bikes, and only a little bit of the fixing of the world ....

That's a certainty Mike, after all the Tories (and I voted for them) froze our personal allowance for some time now and I'll bet labour is not about to "unfreeze" them any time soon.

Its about time people of uk realised the governing elites hate and fear us.They have not forgiven us for the way we all voted 6 years ago.
There is a lot more of 'us' than of 'them' so the only way 'they' can control us is by fear and division.
Apologies for the politics but more and more of us need to wake up.
