No sunlight

For the first time in 15 years, my solar charged batteries that operate my outside lights, have fully discharged and i will have to use a car charger to top up.
Next Spring, i have a large panel and charge controller which will charge without bright sun at a cost of £40. I should be able to get a 60 watt output from the panel but the controller will shut it down when charged
I need at least 30 minutes sun to keep charge and there has been none at all for about 2 weeks

Imagine what a mess we would all be in if we tried to be totally dependent upon solar panels for our domestic electricity.
Did you see damage caused to the country's largest solar farm on Anglesey last week caused by the storm. Around 35 to 40% of the panels were destroyed, and numerous of hose ugly windmills had their whole rotor assemblies blown off by the storm. Obviously green energy makes us confident of an unbroken supply. Or perhaps not.

In the mean time while we fart about many other countries are investing in new coal fire power stations. Won't be long before we rely on other countries to supply our power. All very scary.

It would be hard to be totally working on solar.
What i did find this week was Vauxhall EV cars at 40 percent discount along with many other makes. I pity anyone who bought an EV in the last year as it just lost over 20k depreciation instantly.
Soon have that nuclear station open here but the cost for electricity will rise once it starts nuking us all.

The new atomic power station that so far has taken 15 years to build last week had the reactor installed just happens yo be French design and built buy them it still won't come online until another five years...

Don't worry Jerry, by the time the Sun runs out someone will have found a way to replicate it to charge the Solar panels, probably powered by coal!

Dont recal seeing amy mention of this in the news - probably too busy reporting on matters abroad, or is is just conviently missed.

IT was on the BBC on line news for about half a day last week. Probably find out more via Google.

Just put a 60watt flexible solar panel on the garage roof. Have to wire it to a controller on Monday and get the batteries up a bit. Nice panel only about 1 foot wide by 5 foot. Needs to be narrow or the wind will have it away being fitted at the right angle to catch most energy.

What's the advantage in putting up a 60w solar panel in a place where you have grid electricity?

I could see it for a remote cabin maybe ....?

UK contributes just about 1% of global warming, but that will go up when we have to dispose of all the solar panels and fibreglass wind turbines.
At that same time, all our old tech bikes will still be capable of being re-engineered and used at minimal green impediment.

That's one percent of nothing, tha' knows.

Nobody has ever had the capability of measuring Earth's "temperature", much less correlating it with human activity.

If you had no other indicator, the fact that all of the "climate change" solutions involve huge wealth transfer, communism, lower living standards for the non-private-jet crowd, and massive central control should give us a clue.

At least in this country, we're starting to realize that ....
