This is a story about my 1969 Impala SS . It might be rather long . Some of you might be interested in this story. This is a true story, and the history of my car and who I purchased my car from.He was a good friend of my dads . It was Sept . of 1970. All I wanted to do was drive my car . At that time I knew nothing of the build sheet , the protect o plate , window sticker , or any of the paperwork . About 10 years ago , I started the rebuild of my car . I found this site and learned so much from you guys . I got to thinking about finding the original owner to see if he might still have any of the paperwork . I found out that he had passed away . I then came to realize that I would never have any of the original papers . Last week , I was at a car show in Albion IL . I was cleaning on the car and I set up my sign that I place on a tripod . It tells the history of my car . All of a sudden , I heard a lady say , "Oh my gosh, I know this car , this was my brothers car . " She was crying . We had a long talk about my car and her brother . Later in the day I took her for a ride . She was so happy to find her brothers car . We exchanged phone numbers and email addresses . Later that day on the way home , my phone wrings . It was her , Mary . She said that she went to her moms house to tell her 90 year old mom what had occurred that day. Mary also told me that she had found some of the original papers for my 69 Impala . I was stunned to say the least . Mary said she could mail it to me and before I could say that would be great , she said wait , mom wants to see the car . I said that would be fine. So Thursday , Lori ,my granddaughter , and I went to Carmi IL . We had a great visit . I thought , how can all of this happen ? After all it has been 48 years . I would like to share what I found with all of you . I believe it is the order sheet . It lists the name of the dealership and the city , and the salesman's name. It lists all of the priced items on my car . Total price is $4210.15 I know this has been a long story and some of you may have given up on this story . I apologize if I have bored any of you , but I couldn't help but write to all of you. So many of you have been a big part of my rebuild and I just had to share . I am still amazed how a car can bring people together . To share stories , and make friends . Thanks , all of you on this board that helped me through this adventure .
