I have never seen a cable clamp like that used on a 68, but not sure about 67s. In my opinion, I have 3 points to make: 1) that hole in the fender was to connect the short ground (negative) wire on the spring-ring; 2) having the positive battery terminal that close to the fender is dangerous in the event of a front end collision due to it shorting out to the fender and starting a fire or explosion; 3) it doesn't seem logical that GM would want the DELCO name on the battery facing the wrong way. I could be wrong, but i think the battery is reversed. Don S
