Well, I've reached a point in my life where I just don't have time to work on cars and do everything else I need to do. I'd much rather stick a key in a car and go! So, I'm contemplating eliminating my stable and buying one car that is completely finished. I'm thinking about a 1968 Firebird 400 convertible OR a 69 Impala SS convertible. Firebird 400's are relatively easy to find and easy to document with PHS. The 69 Impala SS convertible, not so much!
It's easy to establish the going market value for the Firebird and as previously stated, they are out there to be had. The big questions are: Are there real 69 SS Impala convertibles out there and what would a numbers matching 69 SS convertible be worth that is in #2 condition? I don't want a trailer queen because I intend on driving the car I buy. I've looked at the price guides but I want to know what you guys think.
At this point, I'm in thinking mode and haven't really made my mind up yet on which car to pursue IF I decide to eliminate the stable and go the one-car-that's finished route. Your information can help me make my decision and is much appreciated!

Had this very same conversation with the wife in November. I have A 68 SS convert. Impala w/a 427. It`s #2.5/3 and a driver. Next step would be pulling off the body, as the drive train is done. As I`m dropping the top for a late fall drive. UP pulls a 69 Firebird convert. to say NICE car. The wife sees this and said; you want to trade? So, after the chrome guy`s done, the rear bumper go on and for sale she goes. Too many hours in the garage I guess. Firebirds, are nice little cars.

69 Impala SS427 convertible is the most comfortable and ease of driving car. Some on Ebay right now. The engine suffix and Vin number for matching numbers car. It will gain in value. Awesome looking car with all the modern looks. Not too much chrome. I bought My 69 because It was the most sturdy car built and would last Me forever and I loved the styling. Just make sure it does not have flat after market quarter panels. Go bid on it. NICK L72427impalasportcoupe

Neither one of your options are going to be a "stick the key in and go". Old cars with carburetors and distributors will always need tinkering and they get lousy gas mileage. Why worry about originality & documentation if you want to drive it? If you are stuck on old car styling, find one that has a late model LS conversion, modern suspension upgrades, A/C and enjoy it.
I've owned old cars for 40 years and I understand the maintenance requirements. I can do the oil changes, tune-ups, the carb adjustments and the tweaking. What I don't have time to do are complete restorations. An hour drinking beer tweaking VS hundreds of hours sweating my arse off, grinding, sanding, immersed in crud grease and oil...you get the picture...
I have a real nice 69 Le Mans blue SS coupe for sale. ZZ505/502 engine and Super T-10 Plus 4-speed. Not a convertible but real quick and very driver friendly. Selling because of injury and too many other cars......
