Not such a long shot
Well, I haven't had it done to me, but I'm a nurse who used to work on a renal unit. I do understand how much pain you are probably in and the pain meds require the anti-nausea meds. I used to give these patients 8-10 mg. of morphine in their IV every 4 hours and by the 2nd dose, I'd start adding phenergan because they would soon be vomiting from the morphine. I would send patients down for this procedure and then get them back about 90 min. later. I think having it scoped and pulled is probably easier than passing it. The stent will be temporary for a couple of days and comes with a string to remove it. I think you will be feeling better fairly quickly after its done. But you need to address why the stones keep forming. The most common cause is not drinking enough water or other fluids or being in a persistent dehydrated state. We would always crank the kidney stone patient IV's up to 250 mL/hr combined with the Flomax to kind of blow the stone out. If that didn't work, the scope. I don't mean to be flippant, but I guarantee that this too will pass. You will get over this and get back to normal. It will be a bad dream eventually. Then you need a hydration plan to keep this kind of thing from happening again.Dilute dilute dilute. Not such a long shot. Good luck and let's us know how you are doing. Nurse Chuck. :-)
