about the only thing to do with Carp is to smoke them, and they also make good fertilizer. I think I've recently seen a show on the Outdoor Channel where they said 90% of the Carp caught in the midwest is shipped to the New York City area for the Jewish community. Not sure what they do with them as far as preparing them to eat, but I do know guys in Michigan that have smoke houses and they smoke carp. I personally don't like the taste of smoked fish. To me smoked fish tastes exactly what I've always pictured licking an used ashtray would taste like, but that's just me. I get what you Chicago guys are saying about fish fries. Believe me every Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus hall, Eagles Hall, Elks hall, Lions hall, etc. in the Detroit suburbs are known for their Friday night fish fries. We have a huge Catholic church by me, and when they have their Friday night fish fry it looks like around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the day of the INDY 500. People that live around the church let people park in their yards, and the parking on the side streets is a dozen blocks deep. Living in the Great Lake State we know a little something about cooking and eating fish, but working commercial construction I don't know how many times in my life I wished we had something around the job site besides a McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, and on many days fish & chips from Long John Silvers sure would hit the spot. |
