Time Posted by Daniel H on August 24, 2023, 8:24 pm I wake up at dawn, and its 7 am instead of 6 I get off the beach at dark, and its 8 instead of 9 Days are getting shorter. Today - sunrise 7:40AM sunset 8:17PM 7 days later - sunrise 7:42AM sunset 8:12PM so in one week we lose 2 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes at sunset for a total of 7 minutes difference in the length of a day. https://www.tide-forecast.com/locations/Manzanillo-Colima-Mexico/tides/latest It changes even more at the equinox, but I'm too lazy to do the math at the moment. http://wordpress.mrreid.org/2014/10/19/rate-of-change-of-day-length-with-latitude/ I don't like the shorter days but I'm able to handle the gradual change, and am very glad there will be no clock ####ing on November 5th (or what ever the date used to be for us) https://www.timeanddate.com/time/change/usa

So, that site seems to be incorrect by an hour. Ya just can't trust the damn internet.

My neighbor, whose life is governed by US TV shows on Eastern Time, has set her clocks ahead two hours. I would throw all of mine away if I didn't work remotely in five time zones. Punctuality is my enemy, and Father Time is an illusion.

Going from solstice to equanox, in the first month the angle of the sun changes 3 degrees, in the next month 6 degrees and in the 3rd month 12 degrees. The reverse happens in the other direction. That's why summers and winters linger so much longer than spring and fall.
