I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the condition of local racing isn’t in the greatest shape, not here or lots of other places. The local promoter even went so far as to go on facebook and post a 3 paragraph “remember when racecars were everywhere” back in the day that racing flourished posting just last week. The reason for my posting more than any other was to show support for the FUTURE of our sport. Look in both the stands and pits – where are all the youngsters? NOT AT SANDIA. If you don’t get an influx of a new interested generation into our sport it will be literally dying on the vine.
The cost to go watch this past weekend @ Sandia was $20 for the stands + parking? The cost to stop by on your way in just north of the big track was nothing. My point was if you were going out anyway stop by and look at OUR RACING FUTURE.
As far as my racing knowledge, yes I do have relatives and friends that are currently racing at BOTH tracks. I’ve even raced a little in my time, but I really don’t understand why your comments are so derogatory. If you don’t like the “go karts” as you call them that’s just fine, but remember your attitude when the car counts continue to dwindle, the local track closes and the only form of racing is drifting. I’m sure you will be on here complaining about that too.
Oh and by the way if you took the time to look at those “go carts” they are full blown mini-racecars, racing frames, birdcages with 4 bar radius rods for rear suspension and the like. Ever hear of Jeremy Sherman? He was there with the chassis he builds supporting his cars and the FUTURE RACERS of our sport.
It wouldn’t hurt if you might try doing the same.
