For some reason I'm "into" losing weight lately Posted by Karen Wby on 12/10/2018, 2:00 pm Hi Folks -- This board has been entirely TOO quiet, and I'm working on my weight issue so coming here for support and encouragement and I'm feeling all alone! Merry Christmas! It's a rough month to be thinking about losing weight, I know, and I'm not even in a situation that requires me to actually avoid excesses. I'm all alone most days in this little house in the country three miles from town. So, after ridding the house of most everything I shouldn't be eating, which I've done over the course of six weeks, I am progressing. Slowly. I think I'm eating just enough to maintain but my front section -- you know, the part that makes me look several months pregnant -- is shrinking. It would be so much easier to just do Cambridge, and I have both the vanilla and chocolate in the fridge, but for some reason I keep resisting that. I don't know why; I just do. I think I'm "working up" to the idea of bringing Cambridge into my eating life. But I am watching my carb and calorie consumption. I go in next Monday for my second total knee replacement. When I went to my primary care physician last Wednesday, my A1C was down to a flat 7.0, and my weight was 210.6, down (in 3 weeks) from 218.2. I've been reminded recently how extra good Eggland brand eggs are. These are the eggs in the white plastic containers. They have a much richer color and flavor. Try 'em! For the most part I'm staying away from the "white stuff" -- flour, sugar, rice and the like. That for you might be a challenge this festive-food month but since I rarely have to leave the house, I'm doing okay. So far. Two things I have come to realize: the more sleep I get, the easier it is to stay close to the "straight and narrow." And, the more water I drink, the better off I am. My goal is four 16-oz. bottles a day. Two are easy. Four is definitely a challenge for me. My current thinking is to be at 200 by Jan. 1, and then do Cambridge twice a day. I'd be happy with a ten-pound-a-month loss, even happier if it were 15 a month loss! Enough chatter, I guess. If all we do is refrain from blatant OVER-indulging this month, I'd say we're victorious! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I cannot do SS right now and am saving my Cambridge for when I feel really really ready. The shakes are really good if you want a refreshing dessert that isn't damaging. I have been doing something that is a Baton Rouge Hospital Diet for heart patients: mostly soup, fruits, raw and cooked vegetables. I can't tell you how good I feel since I started it! It is like my body is thanking me. Soon the holidays will be over and I'll feel more like I will be mentally strong enough to proceed full throttle. Thanks you again for your post.

The whole diet is listed there below the video which explains it was the Baton Rouge Heart Hospital Diet, which includes soup, fresh fruit, cooked and raw vegetables, beef or chicken or fish, brown rice.

Soup is eaten daily and then you add fresh fruit ,m cooked vegetables etc. Recipe for Peel-a-Pound Soup 1 large can of Stewed or Whole Tomatoes 1 Envelope of Onion Soup Mix (optional) 4 Cups of Water 6-7 Beef Bullion cubes (I now use Better than Bouillon) 1 Head of Cabbage 1/2 Stalk Celery 2 Bell Peppers 2 Onions 5 Garlic toes Into a large dutch oven or stock pot, add 1 large can of stewed or whole tomatoes. Add 1 packet of Onion Soup mix. Add 3-4 Cups water along with 6-7 Beef Bouillon cubes and mix well, then heat mixture over med-high heat until boiling. While mixture is coming up to a boil, cut up your vegetables and add them to the pot. Once soup is boiling, turn heat down to med-low for a slow rolling boil and cook with lid on until vegetables are tender (30-90 mins). 7 Day Diet provided by the Heart Hospital of Baton Rouge, LA. 1st Day: Eat as much of the listed fruits as you want at each meal, plus as much of the soup as you want. Apples, Oranges, Tangerines, Satsumas, Cantaloupes, Watermelons, Pears, Plums, Peaches, Papayas, and Pumpkin. 2nd Day: Eat as much of the listed vegetables as you want, plus soup, plus a baked potato. Asparagus, Bean Sprouts, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Celery, collards, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Green Beans, Mushrooms, Okra, Peppers, Radishes, Spinach, Tomatoes, and Zucchini. 3rd Day: Eat as much of the vegetables AND fruit as you want, plus the soup. 4th Day: Throughout the day, eat 8 bananas and drink 8 glasses of skimmed milk, plus the soup. Feel free to cut up some of the bananas, place into a blender with some sugar substitute and some of the milk to make a nice shake. 5th Day: Eat as many tomatoes as you want, 1 1/2 pounds of meat (beef, pork, chicken, or fish) plus the soup. 6th Day: Eat as much of the vegetables as you want, 1 1/2 pounds of meat, plus the soup. 7th Day: Cook 1 1/3 pounds of Brown rice and eat 1/3 of the rice at each meal along with any of the vegetables, plus the soup. Note: You can have any amount of coffee or tea without sugar or cream. If you want to use a local dressing on the vegetables, you may do so. You can also have Parmesan cheese with your vegetables to help with the flavor. The more of the soup that you eat the better it is for you because, it is said, the soup takes more calories to burn up food value from it than it has calories itself. This diet was provided by the Heart Hospital of Baton Rouge, LA.

This reduction program includes cooked and fresh vegetables-and allows some animal protein. I thought of using this as my maintenance program when I go back on Cambridge SS and if I want one meal a day plus my 3 Cambridge that soup and a small amount of lean animal protein would be perfect.

I started SS a couple days after Thanksgiving and so far I’m doing great! I started a 1200-1400 balanced diet last February and love it but got inpatient for my goal. I’m going slower than I thought I would but will get there! Best of luck to you, I was where you are last year and now I’m within 8 pounds of my goal and knew Cambridge was the way to go. It’s hard to do but there is no better solution. I agree about getting enough sleep, it’s very important. I get hungry if I’m tired and look for quick energy. I do best when I mix it up, shakes, oats as hot cereal or muffins and sugar free jello as dessert. Best of luck to everyone struggling, I’m here for support and give support to you! I started needing to lose over 100 pounds. Cambridge is the ONLY way to overcome insulin resistance and frustrating slow weight loss. I need to lose 60 more pounds and if I can do that within a year, I will be satisfied. I have been obese ALL OF MY ADULT LIFE!!! Smart, but Fat!! Now that I can actually envision my way to a healthier body, I am not letting silly things get in the way, as I once did. Good luck with the 8 pounds.

Since then, I have tried EVERY imaginable approach to weight loss (Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, hypnosis, etc.) but Cambridge has been the ONLY way for me. I research its inception with Dr. Alan Howard and it is based on sound physiologic principles. It's just that many folks just don't want to stop eating. That's the truth. I am 71 years old now and I swear by Cambridge and all the good things that it has done for me and my psyche. Good luck, SusieQ

She was so successful, lost 135 pounds and we all watched her melt into her true self. She became healthy and was very happy doing things like shopping, etc. What an inspiration for me, I still feel awe that she just did it! She did it for health reasons at first but the fun stuff was the topper! I’m trying to stay positive and get my heath back, my blood pressure went crazy and I couldn’t breath....it was time for me to get serious. It’s been a long year but I get a check up soon and hope for good news. I’m getting old enough that everyone checks to see if I did this on purpose or are sick. I think our entire nation, as a whole, has become so fatigued by weight loss programs and most folks have just given up!! We have been told so many untruths about losing weight that it just doesn't matter any more because it seems NOTHING WORKS. But, people on this Board know about Cambridge and it DOES WORK without all the nonsense. 135 pounds lost?! WOW!! I am just waiting to get there. I know your checkup will be great. For me, just in the past 4 months, my knees are less painful and I had been thnking about knee replacements. But, now, I have no pain. Go figure! Again, just keep going and don't lose sight of your goal, Suzanne. Take care!

I had been told when I was in my late 30's that I needed replacements but I was too young at the time to do it. So I lived in constant pain until I lost my weight at 42. The weight loss bought me about 8 years of pain free living until it became a problem again and I was forced to have them done.

I carried in a bag of dog food the other day that was close to how much weight I’ve lost this year and it was a shock that I carried that all day, every day, such a burden. My top BP number was 204, I was ready for a stroke. I feel like a kid again, it’s a chance to regain my strength and confidence and I hope to do it right. I’m sure I know how to do it but it’s always a head game! Every time my stomach growls I think I’m a fat burning machine instead of I need a snack, so far being positive even when I want to be negative is working. I’m on your side, we can do this and we should...no more yo-yo! Have a great day, Suzanne

I have been running around getting the holiday obligations taken care of. But, I have been walking and sipping my Cambridge. I had a slip today. I had dreamt about Eggs Benedict. So, this morning, I went to a diner and had them. I satisfied my craving (1600 calories worth). I felt bad, but I told myself, "You mucked up but start doing what you are suppose to be doing." So, I walked in the neighborhood park and drank a lot of water. Tomorrow, hopefully, I will get back on track with only Cambridge. I find that food begets more food for me. But, I have become obsessed with Fitbit. You are correct——the more sleep I get, the better I stay on the program. The only problem is that lately in trying to get everything done, my sleep time has been diminished. I have to do something about that. In the meantime, KEEP GOING KAREN. I am trying to overlook the slips and continue on Cambridge, too. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

Everyday i think about Cambridge. My family and friends tell me I should just start next month but I would love to get a head start. Still, here I am satisfying my cravings and not getting any smaller.

If "Friends and Family" have told you to "start next month", then they don't know the agony of being obese or the daily self-loathing that happens each day when I look in the mirror. If they ARE obese, then they are deluding themselves. My "Friends and Family" always wanted me to do what was least "stressful" for me. However, the stress (for me) comes from constantly being FAT! I am just tired of it. I want to be NORMAL. I want to FIT normal-size clothes (with a waist and a belt). With that said, I do not intend to offend your friends and family but this is a solo journey, Sonali, and no one else can make it for us. I am not perfect, but EVERY DAY that I am alive so that I can knock some of this weight off, I am doing it!! Cambridge NOW AND FOREVER!!
