Dyscalculia meant that maths at school was torture, and giving it up was a real relief. But what I'm now searching for is help for people with dyscalculia aside from education. Because.....: I can't understand time - I'm always late for work and my boss's frustration reminds me of my maths teachers'! I get lost wherever I go, and get other people lost! And if you ever served me in a shop you could overcharge me and I'd never know. And it's so embarrassing when you're an intelligent person and you can't add single digit numbers, or fill in forms where you have to write the month as a number.
It's not crippling, I know, but no-one can grasp why I can't do such things, so they think I'm joking, or lying. I just wondered if anyone had any strategies for overcoming these problems in everyday life.
Thanks, and sorry for the rant.
