Cant talk about Friday night but there were a few fish caught over the weekend at various points around the bay. A lot around Napier if your name was Dunky.

Personally I walked into a beach between there and Mahia hoping for guts and glory and was rewarded with a busy time catching kahawai, mullet, trevally, lemons, eagle rays ......If it was small or ugly and undesirable I caught it. No rod was left untouched except for gurnard and snapper. I am genuinely beginning to believe I am cursed.

Still I'm pleased to say there were no stingray stabbings, heart attacks, slips, falls and my limbs remained relatively unbroken after the walk/climb through hils, dales, potholes, brambles and steep drops there and back in the dark (Not recommended).Unless the sun genuinely shines out of your arse its a good idea to take a decent headlamp. Another epic journey in la la land.
