Rex, it would be very difficult for MPI to act on the evidence of a camera, especially with a panorama shot. A lawyer with only a meagre knowledge of photography would discredit such evidence because distance can greatly distorted.

It would all depend on the lens used, magnification with telephoto, or if using a prime lens. The end result would have a huge variation, giving the impression the vessel was a lot closer than it actually was.

The vessel's master needs to be caught in the act and unfortunately that is a lot easier said than done.
