Red Cod are regarded as a bit of a rubbish fish by many purists on here but there as good eating as many other fish. I caught the odd one off the rocks on the opposite side of the airport (Lyall Bay)when I was in Welly.

Wairarapa's good but I always thought Wainuiomata Beach would be a good place to fish for them and gurnard too on the right day as well?
