I was out at Ocean Beach one day and came across a stranded ray. It was kinda a light brown colour and didn't have a sting. Quite a short tail. Was still alive so thought I would drag it back to the water. Reached down to grab it by the wing, and bang I ended up flat on my back. What the hell was that I thought. Buggar, it was an electric ray. Only one I have ever seen. It was a shocking experience to say the least. I took the rubber floor mat out of my Landrover and used that to grab him. No more shocks and one happy battery drained ray swam off.
