I use snell knots all the time. If you start to build your trace from the hook snell a straight eye hook and thread your trace through the back of the eye and it will act like a hinge so if you have a bit of a battle with the fish and the hook makes a bit of a hole in its mouth the hook keeps springing back due to the hinge effect and you will still have a chance of landing it. Have landed a few with a hole in the corner of the mouth where it has been hooked.
