The opportunity to have a world class casting events based on international rules has been lost with the dropping of the UKSF based rules.
The sponsorship potential that that could have involved local company's and multinationals has also taken a hit.
I keep hearing about our members that didn't cast because they felt disadvantaged because the top casters used specialist equipment and that is true to a point but not in all cases.
Tackle Tactics was a sponsor and regrettably we were no longer required but that's the past.
Another opportunity missed was to use the reluctance of the average fisherman caster to create a sports man class so they would only cast with casters of similar equipment and ability.
A Pro caster class would give members something a goal to aspire to. The same as golf, tennis and rugby etc .
Another class could have been sponsored by a multinational company such as Purefishing just as an example were rods, reels and line was supplied on the day so everybody competed with exactly the same gear.
This would encourage rod manufactures to improve there equipment as it would be field tested on a regular basis with large cross section of users. Motorsport has found this to be very successful , gaining a large numbers of competitors using this formula.
Just my thoughts , it wouldn't be hard to reverse what I believe to be some missed opportunities .
Please please add your thoughts as I am sure the executive would appreciate the feed back.
