Scott Herd. Fisherman of 4 years with one regret. I wish I had discovered fishing from age 5 and not 35.
I find surfcasting the purest form of fishing, however I can't deny I love catching fish by any means (except from the supermarket or from a kontiki). Have caught some nice Trout, Kingfish, Trevally, Snapper, sharks, Hapuka and Kahawai during this time, but still yet to get a +20 pound Snapper or a +20Kg kingfish. Good things come to those who wait. Mainly catch and release unless I need to feed friends or family.
Recently spent some time chasing marlin land- based up North, not a pastime I would recommend for the impatient.
