Nobody insinuated they do. As I look after my fishing gear and I have neither dropped the rod or hit anything with one, the source of the cracks is a mystery. The rod is not damaged and neither of the two eyes are bent in any way to suggest they have been in contact with something hard. It will be interesting to hear what the repair guy has to say when he looks at them ... I will let you know.

As an after thought, they have had to deal with some very large fish lately, perhaps this may have helped.
