Years ago I was stray-lining a whole pilchard using my Alvey rig at Blackead beach.
Hooked what I presume was a huge ray (on 20lb line). It went east for about 500 metres and spooled me. Never stopped, never turned, just bye bye into the distance. Nothing I could do about it.
