Having recently shifted to the BOP where fishing spots are more readily accessable I find I'm in the position of not having to dismantle my rod and reel between trips. Apart from the normal cleaning and loosening I can keep everything assembled because I'm only a few K's from where I fish. I have an SUV with roof side rails and have tried a couple of times to tie the rod to these, and it works but the rod is sitting on the roof of the car. The custom made cross pieces available from Repco and the like which clamp on are pretty expensive so I'm looking to make something with heavy dowel and sponge. But, fishermen like us tend to be pretty adaptable, so, any ideas, has anyone done the like, or perhaps everyone sets up on the beach?
