If the wind is offshore put your rod stand in on an angle leaning seaward. If your rod is standing straight up it catches more wind than if its pointing towards the sea. You can lean it a fair way over (45 degrees or so) if you have strong enough ground supporting your rod stand.
Tripod style rod stands are good for this.
