I had to reinvent my casts to look after my injured back Neil... and I found that by slowing my cast down ie casting "lazier" using the OTG and taking one step for balance, I discovered how to load up properly and could actually "feel" a good cast, esp at night when everything is done by timing and feel. I think the "1 o'clock sledgehammer blow" puts the icing on my casts now. I can also go home nowadays after fishing all day and not suffer from the, what was then, "normal" deep and painful reminders of my day's efforts.
For accuracy tho' over shorter distances like up to 100m, I believe you can't go too far offline with the overhead... or more correctly, overshoulder, thump.
One other thing... After watching the terrifying ballsups some jokers made with fancy whirl and fling type casting attempts I also made myself a promise... never to fish on the right of any righthanded bugger attempting pendulum style aerial whirly stuff!! Do you know how scary the sucking noise a 5oz sinker makes as it rips thru the air within 5feet of your head truly is...?
