Before everybody gets swept up in HB snapper mayhem I thought I'd fill you in on the amazing cod fishing on offer at the moment in Palliser Bay. Fishing through the afternoon on a rising tide we pummeled the slimy buggers into submission, the target species was gurnard but with a 1m swell dumping on the beach and dirty water it wasn't to be. The biggest cod of the day was taken on two prawns set for a lemon after dark and went 2.3kg. Just to spice things up a skate made the trek up the sand along with three baby tope. What a day to remember!
