    every single event or sport has many different aspects mark, whether that be rugby from international to dimestic to social 7s ect............ fishing also has many, boats ,rock ,surfcasting longlineing, kayak ,warlf, easury , trout ect personally i enjoy the lot, and each has its challenges, not all of it is about sport and some more challenging than other aspects. NEVER EVER is useing a long line about numbers IT IS all about food on the table! feild weekends are about sport and challanges and in the bigger perspective are far worse than longlines at times!!?? how many smoothhounds did we waste last year? how many kahawai where caught and didnt get eaten? how many other fish where weighed that would usually be released? you have done it! i am doin it! so you are also part of or have been part of what you call pointless fishing aye? you cant through stones when you have done the same with ya rod!

    myself, and others never gloat about what we have taken on our long lines simply because we no there is no challenge in it but it is a feed on the table! and thats what its all about

    just because we surfcast we are not elite or any better than anyone else!
