Paulcs some fish respond well to burley like moki- mussel and kina burleys.

Kingfish, anything oily that will attract bait fish including kahawai.

But for snapper and gurnard because most are caught a far the burley can be a waste.

Methods are using and old stand and tieing your burly to it, and putting the stand in the surf as far as you can. Most moki are only a few meters out. Using a bucket and throwing the odd handfull-cupfull will also work.

Same methods for the kingfish and kahawai, save all your bait scraps and deposit them. The secret isn't about the about you use, it is about keeping the trail consistent, a small amount will attract fish from afar, but it needs to be consistent.

Use an old spud sack, onion sack, hangi sack ect. Put a couple of rocks in it to keep it in the water an tiff it out as far as it will go. ( rope attached)

Burley wil work on most pelagic fish, just not so much for snapper, UNLESS it is really flat and you can get a good oil slick going.
