Never had much luck on the beach with bonito, quickly got pissed off with mushy $16 fish from the gas station and felt like I was wasting money only using 1/4 of a fillet and taking home the rest for burley. The worst bonito I've had was from a popular fishing tackle retailer! When going out on mates boats we grab skipjack from Sanfords and this has always been frozen only once. Last season got a box of burley bonito (14 fish), not the best condition, but again only frozen once and a steal at $36. Have you tried salting it? Has anyone got a process for salting baits successfully?
