"it's easy to feel like everyone else is going home with awesome catches reading the posts on here" Wellyfisher one thing to remember bud, most on here and other forums report on the good days and not the bad days in-between. For the last year and a bit I have fished at least once a week, so an estimate of trips would be around 70-80, in these 70-80 trips I have only had 10-15 good nights (all my fishing is at night after 8pm) catching my target species Snapper and twice getting close to my goal (20lb+) with a 7 and 8kg fish.
Every trip try and take a learning from it, one of my biggest weaknesses is not trying new spots enough and giving them the chance to fire.
As Jed said fishing with others is a great opportunity to learn new tricks and shear tricks. Another good one is throwing questions up on here where some of the best NZ surfcasting legends post and happily give advice.
