Nothing like a bit of skirt

this is the bling I have been using except the yellow/orange octies they are a recent addition to my colour choices, the small pink an white one was the colour that got the king hit a few hours before high tide the other week the extra hooks are a recent addition.

Nice. I raided the girlfriends old brackets and broke them up and put them on my lines don't know if it making much difference

Very pretty fin nor , if the bling gives you more confidence that's a good thing . Fishing is about trying things don't be put off by guys telling you what works and doesn't work , give it a try it could be just the trick on any given day. Keep on trying things it could inspire the ultimate rig.

Very true Phill I never thought about using floats or lure skirts etc till I started seeing the different traces and rigs on various web sites which got me thinking about the extra movement etc to entice a strike. I fish two rods so always have one with bling and one without the bling but still have lumo tube/beads. What I am also trying out with those traces is some of those skirted ones do have the keeper tied in place but others have lumo tube slipped over the eye so I can slide the keeper hooks wherever I want and they are locked in place by the bit of tube. Bit like fly tying really you start on basic flies next thing you know you are experimenting, I even ended up a very lethal version of the variegated wooly bugger with a bit of crystal flash as a trigger point in the tail area instead of the usual red stuff I caught that many on the first fly I tied like that in one day that the fly disintegrated I went home and tied more then went back again the next day and had the same result, I left the fishing spot with $40 in my pocket that day when damn near every other fisho that was there were offering to buy them off me when a couple saw I had more of them at the car in my tackle box

I like to use a keeper hook , I reckon I would catch about 80% of my fish on the keeper. A trick I like to use with a running or sliding keeper hook is to wrap your trace around the hook a couple of times once it is in position and it will hold it in place.

I always used to wrap the line around the shank of the keeper hook but always got a case of the what if a big one comes along and bits through the trace line. I have only just gone back to having the keepers on my traces I stopped using them while fishing off the rocks in northland for some stupid reason and just never went back to it till now. most of those hooks int he pic are 6/0 octopus circles as the main hook and 4/0 or 5/0 mutsu hooks as keepers

Crikey phill you are asking for rex to hide a bit of old bait down the bottom of ya tackle bag for that one

. Also taking one of those disposable bbq's with us to cook dinner on the beach (wifes idea)too so she can cook while i deal with the rods.

Ha ha, I wasn't suggesting he gets a skirt to match his eyes, it doesn't matter how you choose them. Just finished reading an article on luminosity , lumo beads and stuff.
If nothing else it makes your traces easy to find at night , just flash your torch around turn it off and they should stand out like dogs bits , very handy.

I usually use the green and pink needle skirts that Phil has. Like those medium lumo glow in the dark bead/floats he has too. They do disintegrate quite quickly though but I reckon there quite handy for snaps at night. And as far as tackle goes mine is in perfect order

.

And cmon Phil bring back the eva floats mate.

On the subject of keeper hooks, I just slide a soft lumo bead over the eye of my keeper and it holds it in position nicely..
