High mount overheads

Anyone casting o/heads with high mmount on rod?
Not fishing but rather distance casting.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

Dont do distance casting but have tried the Squall on the high mount on new Veritas, Its not bad at all. Just need to train the right thumb a bit more

I have found the few times I have tried distance casting its very easy to birdnest the reel when you're not used to casting sinker-only.
With the combined weight of sinker and a clipped down bait I'm (mostly) confident of not nesting it. But with sinker only the whole experience is different. The spool accelerates so much faster, leading to control issues (for me at least)

Ive got my Squall 15 attached to my newish Okuma Salina 14' and find it a pleasure to cast with 3-4oz - I just have to get used to how snappy these new carbon rods are compared to some of my 25 plus year old rods - when practicing I normally start on 6 - 7 clicks up from no break and work my way down to 5 clicks - Ive just started to adjust the breaks straight after the cast quickly moving the adjuster down to 4 - 3 clicks - I now mostly get over runs due to not stopping the spool quick enough .

The mag on the squall is good in my experience with it half way I seldom get overruns just have to work my way down.
