Did my first drive of the year over to Aotea, it has been a year since I went there for a fish and it produced in a rather pleasing manner and finally some decent sized fish for once all bound for the smoker. So the tally for the day was 2 trevalley (one for the veritas and one for the penn prevail and baitrunner) and one decent sized snapper my son reeled in the snapper and was his first scrap with a decent fish which was on my penn prevail and he felt every bit of it as the reel was loaded with braid

Thanks guys it has been a long time since I have caught anything that big to used to medium sized kahawai and throwback snapper my son duked it out with the snapper (but he did not feel like doing any casting so that one was a team effort lol) but those two trevs were the best fight I had in ages and one of them was on the veritas which was its first large fish also and it got the biggest trev out of the two.
Going to head out there again tomorrow morning for a quick fish before the day gets too hot hopefully I can get the same results as last weekend from that same spot.
I got one trev at 39cm and lost another I took a guy from a different forum and new to the waikato and a bit rusty in the fishing department out with me he got a trev around 45cm. This round I fished the outgoing tide instead of incoming. Fishing the incoming tide definitely more productive won't be fishing the outgoing tide at that spot again.Got a new veritas (not low rider model) arriving in the next week or two once I get the layby for it cleared.
